It is not typical to see a packed room full of people when the supporting act performs, but that was the case for Motel Radio who opened for Summer Salt at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Both the floor and the balcony area of the theater overflowed with people who came to see all three acts that were playing that night — Summer Salt, Dante Elephante, and Motel Radio. Motel Radio recently released their first full album Siesta Del Sol on July 12 which consists of groovy, mellow songs that listeners can listen to on their drive, at a summer backyard party, or even when you are sipping on wine alone in your living room. It was their perfect opportunity to showcase their new tracks and captivate the listeners with their dreamy sound.

Even in a crowded lawn filled with multitudes of people, it is hard to miss the woman of the hour. Dressed in her eccentric outfit, Linda Ramone greets her guests and fans who came to honor her beloved deceased husband Johnny Ramone at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where he is buried. The crowd started to claim their spots on the lawn early in the night to commemorate the legendary rockstar who has made a great impact in the music history. Looking around the cemetery, you either saw fans wearing a Ramones’ t-shirt or dressed as one of the characters from the 1979 movie The Warriors which was being shown that night. Ramones fans rushed to booths to get the band’s merchandise before it sold out and took pictures by the Johnny Ramone statue (I mean, if you don’t have pictures, were you even there?). The event, held annually, is known for having well-known celebrities attend each year. With last year’s attendees including stars such as Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day and actor Johnny Depp, both media and the crowd anticipated seeing big-name celebrities this year as well.

To see Lights in concert is an unforgettable experience, but to see a Lights acoustic show is an indescribable experience. It is without a doubt that the Canadian electro-pop singer has a strong following, with fans lining up outside of The Teragram Ballroom since early hours of the morning to be able to sit front and center in what would be a noteworthy Saturday night show and one to be remembered.

Supporting Fitz and the Tantrums and Young the Giant’s co-headline tour, COIN took on Santa Barbara for the first time and made a memorable impression on the California crowd. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, the trio consisting of lead singer Chase Lawrence, drummer Ryan Winnen, and guitarist Joe Memmel have come a long way since forming the band in 2012. With beaming smiles and southern charm, they took on the Santa Barbara bowl as the crowd awaited their performance.
