Their pop sound infused with rock leaves the listeners wanting more each time we listen to their music. Since the release of “Baby Blue Shades” which acted as a harbinger of their new album, fans have been anticipating the band to share their latest work. After releasing “Apocalypse Whenever,” the day was finally here for them to perform in front of their hometown fans at the Fonda Theatre!
Coming out of the darkness was four figures that walked on stage respectively taking their positions for standby. The room broke out in cheers as the band started off the show with “Peachy” and “Heaven Is A Place In My Head.” As the spotlight illuminated the stage, you saw Christo Bowman, Miles Morris, Gavin Bennett, and Ray Libby jamming to the beat of the music. From the very beginning, Bad Suns gave the crowd what they want by playing their iconic hit that made their band name known “Cardiac Arrest."
The momentum of the show did not slow down as they continued to play tracks from their leading album “Disappear Here.” Those tracks included “Violet”, “Off She Goes”, and “Swimming in the Moonlight” amongst others. Bowman expressed how wonderful it is to be back on stage since the outbreak of the pandemic. Like many other bands, Bad Suns continued to improve their music career during quarantine which resulted in making this new album. This tour was an opportunity to show case these new tracks for the first time.
My personal favorite was their performance of “Life Was Easier When I Only Cared About Me” because the song has an upbeat, catchy sound that you just cannot resist dancing! The crowd, too, was dancing the night away to songs like “Heartbreaker” and “Transpose.” Bad Suns interacted with the crowd in “Rearview” by asking the crowd to crouch down to the floor and jump up and down at the break of their bridge. When they did, the entire venue shook as the crowd jumped to the beat of the music.
The night ended with an encore of “Daft Pretty Boys” which summed up the entire night’s fun all in one song. LA natives should be proud to call Bad Suns their hometown band. It is always a pleasure to have them back in our city. Good luck to the rest of the tour and we cannot wait to see you again here in LA!
