Million possible options to choose from for those in LA on a Saturday night. But 18,000 of them chose to gather at the Forum to watch one of the hottest bands in town — LANY. It was back in 2015 when the three man band formed in Nashville performed at the Sayers Club. Since then, LANY has come a long way as they stepped on stage at one of LA’s biggest venue.
Fans had no idea that LANY was about to put on a show that was going to exceed their expectations. Anticipation rose as lights flickered in red to indicate the start of the show while silhouettes of bodies began to gather on stage.
Under the big panoramic screen, the band kicked off with a track from their newest album gg bb xx, “Get Away” as lights flashed to the beat of the intro. The crowd roared in excitement as their lead singer Paul Klein moved from one side of the stage to the other. Klein could not contain his emotions that he jumped down from the stage and ran to his crowd multiple times. Despite performing at a larger venue, the band created a sense of intimacy with the audience as they sang the lyrics together.
LANY’s set included “Super Far”, “Hurts”, and “care less” which was one of the crowd favorites! Throughout the night, LANY never ceased to entertain the crowd with songs that you can dance to as well as mellower tunes that made you want to sway. Klein’s voice echoed in the room that was lit up with phone lights as he played “Malibu Nights”. With LA being their home base, Klein expressed how good it felt to be performing in their home city. In response, the crowd welcomed the band home with a loud cheer.
By the end of the night, the entire audience was in awe with LANY’s energetic performance. They closed the night with “you!” and “ILYSB” which is the track that got their name out to the world. Confetti was thrown in the air with the word “HOME” printed large on the screen as they bowed and departed the stage. The show ended in success as fans left with huge smiles on their faces. Though the night was surely enjoyable, we cannot wait for LANY to return home again to LA!
