When you listen to Jeremy Zucker’s smooth beats and melody, it is no surprise that this twenty-two-year-old sensation has sold out two nights at El Rey in Los Angeles. Originally from New Jersey, he created his music while finishing up his studies to obtain a degree in molecular biology. I don’t know what’s more impressive — creating multi-streamed music while in college or getting a degree in molecular biology! Though his music gained attention from the early days of his music career, it skyrocketed when his EP summer was released in 2018 with “comethru,” currently holding 173 million views on YouTube. El Rey was packed with Los Angeles fans who had to see him perform these songs live.
The drummer appeared on stage and introduced the night with a beat that led to his first song “firefly.” Girls screamed when seeing Jeremy singing into his microphone on stage. Dressed in pink and purple clothing, Jeremy looked happy to see his supporters as he smiled back at the crowd. He reached out to the audience, holding their hands to show his reciprocation of appreciation for them. Continuing on in his performance, he performed “all the kids are depressed,” a song addressing mental illness and awareness to it, in which the crowd sang along to the words. He thanked this particular crowd for selling out the show in less than an hour since this night was the first show that went on sale before his second show was added. The venue answered in cheers while Jeremy carried on with the set which included “better off”, “Oh, Mexico”, and “desire.”
“Talk Is Overrated” was the last song he performed before returning back on stage for his encore. Fitting for it to be the last track of the night, Jeremy closed with a track from his 2017 EP, “end.” Leaving the crowd with their energy level at its highest, Jeremy thanked and bowed to the crowd before stepping off stage.
During the night, Jeremy took his guitar and started playing the melody as he shared his story from playing shows overseas. He mentioned that on his international tour, he covered a song that he thought only Americans knew; but surprisingly, when he started playing the song, people knew every word to it! Without mentioning the title of the song, Jeremy went on to play that song — it turned out to be “Country Road.” Like his shows overseas, this crowd also sang every word with him. The crowd seemed to enjoy his cover of this iconic track.

Captivated by its melody and its lyrics, the audience raised their hands and swayed along to the music. “Talk Is Overrated” was the last song he performed before returning back on stage for his encore. For those who were able to snatch a ticket before selling out, they got to witness and enjoy one of the up and coming artist in the music industry!
