Six weeks on the road playing in various cities to promote their new album Mystic Truth released earlier this year in March, Bad Suns brings their tour to a climax as they performed their final show of the tour here in California. Though the band has traveled once over North America earlier this year for part one of their tour, fans couldn't resist gathering at the Glass House in Pomona to support their LA native band once again.
Forming in 2012, the band went viral when they released their song "Cardiac Arrest" which led to their debut album Language & Perspective in 2014. Following this record, they released their second album Disappear Here in 2016 which included alternative pop tunes that captivated the audience instantly. This year, Bad Suns has released their third album in March through Epitaph Records which has grasped the attention of wide range of ages. Having released these three albums, the night was expected to comprise of different tracks from each of these albums that depicts Bad Suns's musical journey.
Though they have been on the road for the past six weeks and the night marked the end of their trek, they played "Howling at the Sun" for the first time on this tour.
Following the stage after Ultra Q and Liily, Bad Suns walks on stage with a sense of ownership as they greet their hometown supporters. The set started with a bang as the first note of their first track on their newest album "Away We Go" resonated in the room. The song created a vibe filled with excitement and anticipation of the night ready to be met with great performance and music. The band picked up the tempo with their second song "Daft Pretty Boys" which made the entire room dancing on their feet even in the crowded floor.
With lights flickering and entertaining the stage, Bad Suns continued to play tracks that led their fans to gather here in the same place. "Violet", "The World and I", "Rearview", "Transpose" — the list of songs included variety of different tracks from the albums. Though they have been on the road for the past six weeks and the night marked the end of their trek, they played "Howling at the Sun" for the first time on this tour. Perhaps, they were saving this song to perform it in front of their California fans. It was special to see how close they held their home state fans to their hearts as they interacted with each other in every song.
One after another, Bad Suns continued to play songs including "Heartbreaker", mash-up of "Dancing on Quicksand" and "Off She Goes", and "This Was A Home Once". The crowd went wild as they held up the lead singer Christo Bowman for two of the song with one of them being "Starjumper" which is the last track of their new album. The song slowly builds up as it hits the second chorus and finished with a climactic ending while the audience raised Christo in full-standing position with his fist in the air. Though the band stepped off stage, the crowd wanted more and started chanting for them to return again. Unable to resist these loving fans, Bad Suns returned again and performed three additional songs, one each from their three albums - "Cardiac Arrest" from Language & Perspective, "Disappear Here" from Disappear Here, and "One Magic Moment" from Mystic Truth.
California should be proud to call this band their own after their thrilling performance. After being on the road for six weeks, Bad Suns deserves to take a breather before making more songs. With high hopes for their next content, we wait patiently for more music to be released.
Welcome home guys!
