Electric is an understatement when it comes to describing what the Band Camino put on at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. Having two nights of sold-out shows here in LA, their performance is a true testament to how great and amazing the band is. People filled up the room from the stage all the way to the back of the venue as the night approached their set time. The band, comprised of Jeffrey Jordan, Spencer Stewart, Graham Rowell, and Garisson Burgess, are originally from Tennessee and have been releasing singles and EP's since 2016. Together, they have just released their latest EP called tryhard on August 23 which consists of anthemic tunes that showcase their many talents including vocals, instruments, lyricism, and production. This tour, accompanied by Valley who has been opening up the night with enthusiasm each show, has been a momentous opportunity for the Band Camino as they celebrate their release of this new EP and show their fans what they are made of.
The crowd was so fired up by their performance from the very beginning that fans started to crowd surf already by their second song.
As per usual the Band Camino show, their intro music rang in the venue to let the crowd know that their show is beginning. Each of them appeared in silhouettes as the stage lights started to slowly shine, and the night began with "Break Me," a song off of their new EP. The set carried on with "See Through" and "Less Than I Do". The crowd was so fired up by their performance from the very beginning that fans started to crowd surf already by their second song. Before singing "Farsighted," Jeffrey made a meaningful speech about our common insecurity and pressure of others telling us to become someone we need to be. Jeffrey says, “People tell me I need to be this, I need to be that. I don’t know what that means!” This track holds close to the band's heart as they sing about losing sight of who they are because of the pressure around them, but perhaps knowing that we are all experiencing the same pressure and are not alone can be an encouragement to those of us feeling that way.
The Band Camino continued to pump up the crowd with their tracks, both old and new, including "Bernstein", "Honest", "Fool of Myself", and "Hush Hush". The momentum seemed to keep going even as they slowed down the tempo with slower songs such as "My Thoughts on You" and "The Black and White". The audience took out their phone flashlight to light the room while Spencer Stewart sang his heart out on his keyboard. The Band Camino fans were treated with a surprise guest Mateus Asato as he shredded on his guitar with the rest of the band to "For a While".
Having just shared a stage with one of the most amazing guitarists in the world, the excitement in the band was apparent on stage. “Haunted" was another song that stood out of the set list where both the band and the audience were united as one as they sang the song back to each other with passion. The song truly came alive when they hit the chorus with such force that the entire room started shaking with energy. The night ended with “What I Want” and “Daphne Blue” in which Jeffrey crowd surfed and Spencer Stewart tore up his guitar strings, leaving the fans cheering loudly and wanting more.
Every song that the Band Camino releases is so anthemic that you cannot help but to belt out their lyrics. Their new EP tryhard was one of the perfect soundtrack to end our summer. We are ready for more music to be released and for them to come back to Los Angeles very soon!
